Why do we collect data?
Barnsley Foodbank collects and processes information about you in order to;
(i) identify your device, browser and operating system to enhance your web experience with us;
(ii) improve our Services and website;
(iii) carry out research on the demographics, interests and behaviour of users
(iv) send you information we think you may find useful, to keep in touch with you and supply you with information relating to our work
You may be asked for information about yourself, such as your name, e-mail address, postal address and telephone number when you attempt to contact us. You are under no obligation to provide this information, but if you don’t then we may not be able to provide you with the best service.
Your personal information is used to assess eligibility and provide food vouchers as well as for monitoring and statistical analysis. Your personal information is only seen by people who need to do so for food bank reasons. It not used for any other purpose. Information from your referral is accessible to food banks where you redeem your food voucher, any agencies that refer you and the food bank the agency is associated with. Other referral agencies with access to E-referral and food banks in our Network can see the dates when someone with your name and postcode has been to a food bank but they can’t see any more information; like your address or why you needed the food bank’s help. Your personal information is stored in a secure database owned and administered by the Trussell Trust, who are a separate data controller and use your data for statistical and monitoring purposes. Your data is kept for six years. Your personal data will never be sold to any other bodies. To find out more about how we look after your personal information please ask the food bank to give you a copy of their privacy statement.
Log Files/IP Addresses
When you visit our website, we automatically log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer, or mobile device, on the internet) which is automatically recognised by our web server. We use IP addresses to help us administer our websites and to collect broad demographic information. Non-personal information about you is used to collect such information as the type of internet browsers used, the site from which you linked to our websites or the type of device you are using to access our website. You cannot be identified from this information and it is only used to assist us in providing an effective service on our websites as stated in “why do we collect data”.
How long do we store your data?
We will keep the information and data relating to your use of the website only for as long as we consider it necessary in relation to the reasons we set out in “what data do we collect and how do we use it.”
Where is the information stored?
Information which you submit via our website is stored on a computer located in the European Economic Area (This is necessary in order to process the information and to send you any information you have requested). In addition, if you use our Services while you are outside the EEA, your information may be transferred outside the EEA in order to provide you with those Services.

POLICY STATEMENT
Barnsley Foodbank Partnership is committed to delivering a high standard of service to anyone who engages with our work.
We believe that the best way to improve our service is by learning from the people who use it. We welcome comments, compliments and complaints from clients, referral agencies, volunteers and anyone else we come into contact with our work. These help us to see what we are doing well and where we can make improvements.
We aim to promote an environment, where people are encouraged to raise and discuss issues informally and, where necessary, seek solutions to prevent them developing into problems or complaints.
However, we recognise that there may be situations where people are not happy with the outcome of an informal discussion or feel that the issue needs to be taken further. In these cases, Barnsley Foodbank Partnership has a complaints procedure so that we can work towards a resolution in a fair and transparent manner.

We recognise that there may be times when our services and activities do not meet your expectations. If this happens, it is important that we know about it as soon as possible so that we can deal with the situation effectively to try to prevent it from happening again and to learn from our mistakes. Please tell us what your complaint or feedback is about and what you would like to see happen as a result. Please also tell us how we may contact you.
What will happen after I complain?
We will acknowledge your complaint within five working days of receipt and we will tell you who will be dealing with the matter and when you can expect a full response.
Wherever possible, Barnsley Foodbank Partnership will respect your confidentiality and keep your complaint confidential as far as possible. Any information about the complaint will usually only be shared with those who need to know in order to help resolve it.
There may, however, be occasions when we cannot provide absolute confidentiality, for example in circumstances where a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk of harm.
