Trussell Trust and Deliveroo partner for donations

19th April 2022

The popular food delivery app, Deliveroo, is partnering with the Trussell Trust to support individuals in crisis across the UK.

It has been revealed that Deliveroo is including an extra option when checking out on the app, allowing its customers to add a round up donation for the Trussell Trust’s food banks. Deliveroo employees will also volunteer at their local food banks as part of the partnership.

Deliveroo has many different Barnsley takeaway and food delivery categories on the app including desserts, sandwich shops, popular fast food takeouts and local convenience stores. It is anticipated that adding the extra donation option will support all food banks across the country, including Barnsley Foodbank Partnership.

Research by YouGov showed that 90% of Deliveroo customers wanted to see a future where food banks were no longer needed.

Trussell Trust chief executive Emma Revie said;

“Everyone should be able to afford their own food, but as families face the biggest income squeeze in a generation, people are telling us they’re having to make impossible decisions between heating and eating and being forced to turn to food banks to feed themselves.

“Our new partnership with Deliveroo will help us support food banks to provide emergency food and in-food bank support to thousands of people in immediate crisis, while we work towards our long-term vision of a future where nobody needs to turn to charity to get by.”
