Harvest 2021

14th September 2021

Dark nights, cold temperatures and a particularly festive period is approaching. Barnsley Foodbank Partnership is preparing for our busiest time of year and here’s what our plans are over the next month.

This year, the whole month of October is where we are focusing on Harvest. We saw record figures last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and with the universal credit cuts this year, we are expecting another busy season.

Donations that come from the Harvest collections prepare us for the colder months, where parcel numbers rise and more individuals find themselves in crisis. It allows us to supply emergency food parcels that last for a minimum of 3 days.

How can I help?

We are encouraging businesses, schools, churches, community groups and even individuals and families to get involved with our Harvest collection. Throughout October we will also be posting your donations on our social media, as well as showing where your donations go.

How do we donate the food?

Our warehouse in Wombwell is open from 9am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday for donations. We also have some donation points around the Barnsley area, the full list of opening times is here. (Please note, some donation points don’t have capacity for large donations. We ask that larger donations are brought to our warehouse!)

For businesses/churches/schools/community groups: We have limited collection slots at the moment due to driver shortages. Please try to deliver your donations where possible. Thank you for understanding.

Can I donate money instead?

Monetary donations can be made here.

Please direct any queries to: [email protected]

If you would like some inspiration for your Harvest collection, we have created a ‘Harve-nt’ calendar. Similar to the Christmas calendar, it is a guide to donating one item per day until the end of the month…or they can be donated all at once!

We are asking everyone to get involved where you can. Even a share, like or comment on social media makes a huge difference.
