Tesco Collection Update- November 2020

10th November 2020

This year, the Tesco Collection will be a little different…

Tesco is running the annual Tesco Food Collection within the Stairfoot, Penistone and Hoyland stores from 19th-21st November, in association with The Trussell Trust and Barnsley Foodbank. Due to Covid-19 measures, our volunteers will not be present this year, but the collection will still go ahead.

Each year, the Tesco Food Collection brings in a huge amount of donations, which goes toward our emergency food parcels for our foodbank. This year more than ever, your donations will help us greatly throughout the Winter months. We want to make sure everyone can get involved with this brilliant event, so we’ve introduced our Virtual Volunteer campaign. If you’re unable to visit the supermarket, you can still get involved- every bit of support, whether big or small, helps us.

How can I get involved?

Virtual Volunteers allows everyone to get involved with our brilliant Tesco Food Collection, whether it be in the supermarket or from your own armchair. Here is how you can get involved:

· Share our posts on social media. Find us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as ‘Barnsley Foodbank Partnership’. Like, share…even tag a friend. You can also share our posts into Facebook groups to help to spread the word.

· Donate money. We accept donations from Virgin Money Giving, Bank Transfer/BACS, Gift Aid and Regular Giving. Just visit https://barnsley.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money/ for more information.

· Donate in store. You can still donate food items in the Hoyland, Penistone and Stairfoot Tesco stores. Just look for the donation box at the front of store.

· Tell your friends and family. Whether it’s word of mouth, calling and texting, or even via letter; you can spread the word about our virtual volunteering.

· Use the hashtag #BFPVirtual when you’ve donated. Why not take a selfie with our donation box?!

· For all methods of donating, visit our website: www.barnsley.foodbank.org.uk

What are the rules for donating?

If you are donating in store, please remember the social distancing and face mask rules. We have a list on our website of our ‘most needed’ items, but feel free to donate whatever you can. Every bit of support makes a huge difference!

Where can I find out all of the information?

Stay in the loop with all of our announcements via our social media and website. Alternatively, you can email [email protected]

A huge thank you from all of us at Barnsley Foodbank Partnership for your continued support. Our Virtual Volunteering proves that we can come together, even when we are apart.
