Covid 19 Barnsley Foodbank Update 1st April 2020

30th March 2020

As all will appreciate it has been a fast changing situation as the Covid 19 crisis unfolds. To continue to provide a source of crisis food  to  people in need across Barnsley at a time of increased demand we have been working closely with Barnsley Council to ensure we coordinate with local emergency efforts.  As a result and other Covid  19 related matters of this we have changed how people access food parcels. During Covid if you are in hardship and need to access food parcels call the following number:  01226 774444.  Foodbanks across the UK are facing challenging times, we are a member of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks and they are working hard to support foodbanks across the UK.  You can read here information from Trussell Trust about the issues foodbanks are facing during the Covid 19  crisis and the changes they are having to make.

Despite the current challenges last week we created over  270 food parcels over two days which have been distributed by volunteer responders.  Big thanks to the people volunteering with us and to all members of the public and organisations who continue to donate food or money to support us. It’s a team effort! If you are able to donate money go to https://barnsley.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money/

If you are able to donate food at your local Co-op or Tescos we are especially short of; UHT milk,  tinned meat, tinned fish, Tinned Tomatoes, Tinned Spaghetti, Tinned Rice Pudding, Tinned Potatoes and Packet smash potatoes. But all donations are appreciated.
